Meet The Team
Kerry
Senior Coach & Competitive Program Coordinator
My name is Kerry and I am the head coach (and certified Level 2 coach) for the Edson Tumblers Gymnastics Club. I have lived in Edson for 14 years and have 2 children aged 10 and 13 who love swimming and gymnastics! They are the reason i wanted to create this amazing non profit gymnastics club for Edson and surrounding community.

I began my coaching career in 1993 with the Spruce Grove Aerials Gymnastics Club after retiring from competitive gymnastics. From 1993 to 2005 i had the opportunity to coach both recreational and competitive gymnastics at several gymnastics clubs, including; Spruce Grove Aerials, Salto Gymnastics in Sherwood Park, University of Alberta Gymnastics Club and Dynamyx Gymnastics Club in St. Albert. I was also the recreational coordinator for 2 years at Dynamyx Gymnastics Club, which had over 900 recreational gymnasts and 15 coaches.

I took a short break from coaching once i graduated Nursing at the University Of Alberta in 2005. After relocating to Edson, and having children of my own, I was ready to jump back in and helped create the Edson Tumblers Gymnastics Club in 2013. I currently coach the competitive girls program, in addition to managing many aspects of the club along with our volunteer board of directors.

There are so many reasons why i love coaching gymnastics. The challenging nature of gymnastics teaches children to learn that hard work and dedication pays off. I love to see the smile on the gymnast's faces when they learn a new move or perform a great routine at a competition! The best reward is when a gymnast tells me they love gymnastics as much as i do!
Alijha
Coach
My name is Alijha and I have been coaching gymnastics for the Edson Tumblers gymnastics club and in the Edmonton area for the last eight years. I was formally a gymnast myself and trained for over nine years.
Before gymnastics I did competitive figure skating for a number of years. I have a competitive nature and really enjoy coaching the competitive team.
My future goal is to become a level two or three certified competitive coach and then eventually become a judge for gymnastic competitions.

Some random facts about me; my favourite gymnastics skill is fly away on bars, I dislike winter, like to bake, and have a really cute puppy!
Alesha
Coach
My name is Alesha and I moved to Edson from British Columbia 17 years ago. Along with my husband we raised our four children here and made Edson our home.

I have always loved working with children. I have only been coaching for a short time, but have worked with children for years as a teacher assistant in a kindergarten class.
I enjoy spending time with my family camping, jet boating and doing just about anything outdoors. I look forward to many years of coaching!
Nicole
Recreational Program Coordinator
I have been coaching with Edson Tumblers Gymnastics Club since December 2015. I am certified in Gymnastics Foundations, and trained in Active Start, Trampoline, and Competition 1. I have also completed courses in Special Olympics coaching and judging for the Junior Olympic program.

I have lived in Edson for most of my life and spend my free time camping, hiking, travelling and with my family.
I love coaching gymnastics and motivating gymnasts to challenge themselves - all while having fun!
My favourite thing about coaching is seeing the pride and excitement that my gymnasts experience when they master a difficult skill.
Erica
Coach
My name is Erica and I am 15 years old. I started gymnastics in 2014 when I was 10. My first year of gymnastics was recreational, then for two years I did pre-competitive, then finished with the recreational program where I got all my badges, burgundy through gold. When I started to get close to receiving all my badges I started assisting with other classes in hopes of becoming a coach one day.

I have always loved sports and just being busy! I did volleyball for two years and have done badminton for four years. In the summer I love to wake surf, swim and hang out with my friends. On rainy days I love to paint and craft. I have sold my art at local markets and have donated items to be auctioned for charity; currently I am selling my art at the museum. I have also been babysitting for two years and absolutely love it.

After completing my Foundations course, I am so excited to join the other coaches and start coaching my own classes. I have always loved kids and, especially in this case, helping them achieve their goals! Gymnastics has always had a place in my heart and always will.
